More to MP3 players than iPods

There are more MP3 players than iPods, but Apple’s seedling is still the leader of the pack.

The iPod is undoubtedly the best-known MP3 player. So much so that the layman is almost as likely to call an MP3 an iPod as to call a vacuum cleaner a Hoover.

As with ‘‘the hoover’’, there are well-known competitors that should not be ignored when choosing a player. Creative lead the chasing pack, if for no other reason than that developing MP3 players is their core business. Sony and Philips are also well established...
