Mortgage lending up, but still low

- The latest Irish Banking Federation (IBF) data on mortgage approvals indicated that an average of 2,555 mortgages were approved per month during May, June and July. According to the IBF, that's an increase of 46.1 per cent on the number of mortgages approved in the same period a year earlier.

In the year to the end of July, 13,300 mortgages valued at more than Euro 2.3 billion were approved, according to the IBF.
