Close to 70,000 struggling mortgage customers have agreed restructured arrangements with their lender, according to new government figures.

The Department of Finance's latest figures indicate that some 69,306 permanent mortgage restructures were agreed by the end of May, an increase of 7,241 accounts on the number of restructures agreed at the end of March.
