Vodafone has used advances in mobile working to get closer to the heartland of its customers' IT departments. Now offering tablets and Microsoft's Office 365 alongside smartphones, it has developed in-house expertise to integrate such solutions into the customer's business and run them as managed services.

Forrester Research claims that 25 per cent of enterprises are now using or planning to deploy tablets in business, creating a big opportunity that Vodafone is already starting to explore.
