Misleading evidence given to gardai about patient’s death

A confidential report into the death of a 75-year-old woman at a geriatric hospital in 2006 has found that hospital staff gave contradictory and misleading evidence to gardaí about how she died.

A confidential report into the death of a 75-year-old woman at a geriatric hospital in 2006 has found that hospital staff gave contradictory and misleading evidence to gardaí about how she died. The report, which was submitted to the Health Service Executive (H SE) last month and has not been published, found the woman choked to death after her neck became entangled in a strap which was supposed to be tied around her waist.
