Last weekend, the new coalition government passed its first month in office.

Our opinion poll suggested broad support and a relatively high degree of satisfaction with its performance so far, though clearly many people are withholding judgment.

But in a climate of general mistrust of all politicians, the new government’s numbers will have given ministers some confidence. Enda Kenny is entitled to feel fairly pleased.
