Government ministers have made a large number of appointments to state boards and committees in advance of the general election.

Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has made 95 appointments to state boards and committees since January. He filled 51 vacancies during the Dail’s final session after Easter, in addition to 44 appointments made between January and March, which is a record average of 15 new appointees a month.
