Minister says RTE made mistake on tweet

It's up to RTE to put in place guidelines to prevent a repeat of the bogus tweet broadcast, says Minister Pat Rabbitte.

Rabbitte: BAI was right

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte said today he believed the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland was right to rule against RTE over the broadcast of a bogus tweet during a live presidential debate last October.

"Politicians are always critical of current affairs programmes, that's healthy for our democracy," he told RTE's Morning Ireland programe. "But in this particular case it's difficult to find an objection to the BAI's finding."
