Health Minister James Reilly has said the HSE inquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar can proceed without the co-operation of her husband.

Health Minister James Reilly has said the HSE inquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar can proceed without the co-operation of her husband.

He said it was "regrettable" that Praveen Halappanavar had decided not to engage with the investigation, radio station Newstalk reported.

"I am quite happy that we can investigate this situation currently, and we"ve commenced that" he said.
