Michael O'Kane appointed editor of the Irish Daily Star

Michael O'Kane has succeeded Ger Colleran as editor of The Irish Daily Star newspaper. Colleran has been appointed managing director of the paper.

Michael O'Kane has succeeded Ger Colleran as editor of The Irish Daily Star newspaper. Colleran has been appointed managing director of the paper.

O'Kane, 44, joined the Star as news editor in 2002, rising to become deputy editor in 2007.

Previously, he worked at RTE for 10 years, attached to the broadcaster's Belfast Bureau and abroad in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also briefly worked in the Irish Press.
