The 43-yearold Russian was accused of conspiring to supply weapons to Colombian rebels, after losing an appeal against his extradition from Thailand.

His trial will end a two-year legal and diplomatic battle, played out in the Thai courts between the US and Russia, over the so-called ‘Merchant of Death’ - the nickname by which the 43-year-old former Soviet air force officer...
