Mercedes shows its S-Class

Has Mercedes-Benz once again redefined the luxury car segment with its new S-Class saloon, asks Shane O'Donoghue

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class: even in Sport mode, it's more comfortable than most other cars on the road.

People who buy cars like this new Mercedes-Benz S-Class presumably wouldn't bat an eyelid at the list of optional extras that added some €13,000 to the price of the press test vehicle.

Though from a slightly less enviable economic position it seems faintly ludicrous to pay over €2,000 for black metallic paint and another €3,000 for nicer wheels. Never mind the €1,269 cost of the (admittedly delightful) leather and wood steering wheel.
