Daimler's Mercedes-Benz shifted up a gear last week its battle against rival BMW when it announced it would open a new assembly plant in central Hungary.

Daimler's Mercedes-Benz shifted up a gear last week its battle against rival BMW when it officially announced it would open a new €800 million assembly plant in central Hungary.

The plant, based in Kecskemet, is the luxury car titan's first new manufacturing facility in 15 years and its first in eastern Europe, (although engines and parts are made for Mercedes in Bosnia Herzegovina). The plant will make Merc's A and B class compact car models...
