Mellon appeals for €20m worth of land for charity

Niall Mellon is appealing to fellow property developers and landowners to donate up to 100 sites around the country to his South African charity, the Niall Mellon Townships Initiative (NMTI).

Mellon is aiming to raise up to €20 mil lion through the project and use it to build 4,000 homes in South African townships.

According to Mellon, once a site is donated local tradesmen and women will volunteer their time to build a house on it using materials donated by local builders and suppliers. The house will then be sold and the proceeds donated to the NMTI. Land owners in Roscommon, Cork, Galway, Kilkenny and Dublin...
