Medical card reviews to rise by 45%
Government under severe pressure due to public anger of withdrawal of medical cards.
The number of medical card reviews being conducted by the Health Service Executive (HSE) is set to jump by 45 per cent this year.
Figures from the Department of Health indicated that, during 2013, the HSE issued 644,858 review notices to medical card holders.
''The HSE's plan for 2014 is to complete 936,039 reviews, the department's spokesman said.
