A general practitioner with a background in public health medicine, Dr Alan Smith wanted to create a service for both the public and private sectors. Last June, he launched his health consultancy business, Healthfirst.ie.

His focus is on ‘‘improving the health of populations’’ and his business provides advice on public health to companies.
