New production firm Media Coop initially took shape because its freelance founders found themselves uncomfortably ‘‘time-rich’’ during the recession.

Stu Teehan, a TV cameraman turned-director, and Colin Norris, a video director who is now a full-time producer, starting working together in 2009 to make a low-budget TV commercial for the Dandelion restaurant.
