A desire to follow the recent trend of consolidation in media organisations led to the merger of two of the best-known media buyers in Ireland last week - Core Media and Mediaworks - according to Paul Moran, managing director of Mediaworks.

Core Media is to acquire Mediaworks in a deal worth an estimated €3 million, creating the largest media buyer in the market with billings of some €160 million.
