The Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) paid for the use of private planes for its former chief executive George McNeice and other senior figures, The Sunday Business Post has learned.

McNeice left the doctors' union with a controversial €9.7 million severance package just before Christmas.

This newspaper was unable to establish why private planes were used by the IMO, which represents 5,000 doctors.
