McNamara in bid to build Connolly private hospital

Builder Bernard McNamara has teamed up with the US not-for-profit hospital operator Methodist to build a private hospital on the grounds of James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, west Dublin.

McNamara’s consortium is one of a large number of investor groups which tendered to build private facilities next to ten public hospitals around the country. Under the plan proposed by Minister for Health Mary Harney, 1,000 public beds will be freed by moving patients to ten new private hospitals.
