McNally Foods acquires rival

McNally Foods, a Dublin food distribution firm, has acquired a 50-year-old rival in what is understood to be a multimillion euro deal.

The family-owned company, whose customers include shops, hotels and catering firms, has bought Barbeque Products, which was founded in 1958 by Patrick O’Loughlin. The enlarged firm has 35 staff and revenues of more than €15 million.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Barbeque Products had revenues of several million euro and has traded profitably. O’Loughlin had sought abuyer for the business, and plans to retire after advising on the transition of the...
