McDowell’s ‘flip-flopping’ on the Bertie saga may cost him

Michael McDowell, the new Tanaiste and leader of the Progressive Democrats, clearly failed on both counts last week. It may have come way down his list of potentially important leadership skills, but McDowell’s badly miscalculated, poorly timed and far too lengthy sulk left him looking like the man to blame for the unholy political mess that has unravelled in recent days.
