McDonald's to open its first vegetarian restaurant

Fast food giant McDonald's plans to open its first-ever fully vegetarian restaurant close to a Hindu shrine in northern India.

The vegetarian McAloo Tikki burger already accounts for 25 per cent of the company's total sales in India.

Fast food giant McDonald's plans to open its first-ever fully vegetarian restaurant close to a Hindu shrine in northern India.

The move comes as other western fast food chains such as Domino's Pizza and Subway also seek to tailor their products to a country where beef is taboo on religious grounds for many.

The vegetarian McAloo Tikki burger already accounts for 25 per cent of the company's total sales in India, according to India's Economic Times.
