EU Commissioner Charlie McCreevy will warn Irish financial regulators tomorrow that they risk choking competition with unnecessary regulations.

McCreevy plans to deliver a broadside against runaway regulation in a speech to a gathering of financial regulators at their headquarters on Dame Street in Dublin.

The former finance minister will tell the regulators that they risk gold-plating existing European law by adding regulations that only increase costs for consumers.
