McCreevy seeking answers on blocking of Polish bank takeover

EU commissioner Charlie McCreevy is to write to the Polish government this week seeking an explanation as to why it is attempting to block a takeover of its third-largest bank.

McCreevy, who is responsible for internal markets and services, is expected to give the Polish government 15 days to respond, according to a commission source.
