McConnells buyout heralds end of era in Irish advertising

Rumours of difficulties at the venerable Dublin agency had been circulating for months, writes Catherine O’Mahony

‘It’s very, very sad,” was the comment from one senior advertising figure, following the news that advertising agency DDFH&B was poised to buy McConnells integrated.

While DDFH&B plans to preserve the McConnells brand, the deal still means the end of the road for the company that helped create iconic Irish brands like Ryanair and Ballygowan, at least in its current form.
