McColgan's WorldIrish reaches half its target membership

John McColgan, founder of social networking site WorldIrish.com, has said plans to expand the site aggressively were scaled back to allow for "community-led growth".

John McColgan, founder of the Irish social networking site WorldIrish.com, has said that plans to expand the site aggressively were scaled back to allow for "community-led growth".

The number of members signed up to the site is now over 50,000. In an interview with *The Sunday Business Post* last year, the Riverdance creator said that getting WorldIrish to 100,000 by the end of 2012 would be "proof of concept".
