Mater says top-up payments made to 17 consultants and executives

Seventeen hospital consultants and executives at the Mater Hospital in Dublin receive extra payments on top of their state-funded salaries.

The hospital confirmed the extra payments for the first time last Friday. In a statement to this newspaper, it said that 15 consultants who undertook administrative roles were paid an additional €15,040 per annum. This is the first time it has emerged that top-ups are being paid to hospital consultants.
