Martin heads bid to repair reputation

The government has started an international offensive involving high-level diplomats in an effort to repair Ireland’s battered reputation in the global financial community.

Acting on the direction of Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin, senior members of the diplomatic community - including ambassadors and high-ranking civil servants - will attempt to reassure the international community about the strength of the Irish financial and regulatory system.

Martin has instructed senior diplomats to arrange meetings with international investors, financial institutions and representatives of other governments. Extra resources have been allocated to the area in the past few weeks....
