The successful launch of Magners Irish Cider in Britain, marking a major reversal of the usual trend, has earned Bulmers marketing director Maurice Breen the Marketer of the Year award.

Begun regionally in 2003, the rollout of Magners is still in its early stages, but it has generated a 263 per cent increase in volumes of Magners in the first six months of 2006, which helped boost its profits to €113.5 million.
