The unloved Iseq index of Irish shares has been putting in a strong performance since last summer. Although it is nowhere near boomtime highs - unlike the S&P 500 and Ftse - the Iseq has added about 30 per cent to its value after hitting a 12-month low last June. Benign conditions could see it breach 4,000 for the first time since the bank guarantee.
