Market report: European stocks gain as investors await US data

European stocks continued to gain this afternoon despite figures showing manufacturing in the euro area expanded at a slower pace last month.

European stocks continued to gain this afternoon despite figures showing manufacturing in the euro area expanded at a slower pace last month.

Reports on US manufacturing are expected to be released later this afternoon.

BNP Paribas added 2.8 per cent after announcing that it intends to keep its dividend unchanged even after agreeing to plead guilty to US sanctions violations and pay $8.9 billion in fines.
