European shares rose for a second day as a recovery in mining stocks and gains in the car sector lifted markets following the end of a bruising third quarter

European shares rose for a second day as a recovery in mining stocks and gains in the car sector lifted markets following the end of a bruising third quarter.

By 12:10 p.m., London’s FTSE 100 was 1.2 per cent higher, France’s CAC 40 added 0.9 per cent while Germany’s DAX gained 0.2 per cent.

In Dublin, the ISEQ index of Irish shares rose by 1.2 per cent.
