European shares gained for a third day as investors awaited the outcome of the European Central Bank's policy meeting and a US jobs report.

By 09:40 a.m., the FTSE 100 was 0.3 per cent higher, French shares added 0.5 per cent while Germany's DAX was up 0.4 per cent. In Dublin, the ISEQ gained 0.2 per cent.
