European shares were mixed after their best week since July but trading was relatively light with US markets set to remain closed for the Columbus Day holiday

European shares were mixed after their best week since July but trading was relatively light with US markets set to remain closed for the Columbus Day holiday.

By 09:25 a.m., London’s FTSE 100 lost 0.4 per cent and France’s CAC 40 was down 0.2 per cent while Germany’s DAX added 0.5 per cent, helped by a strong performance from utility stocks. In Dublin, the ISEQ gained 0.2 per cent.
