Market report: European shares advance on company earnings figures

European stocks rose for a second day as companies including AP Moeller-Maersk and Imperial Tobacco Group climbed after posting earnings figures.

European stocks rose for a second day as companies including AP Moeller-Maersk and Imperial Tobacco Group climbed after posting earnings figures.

Maersk, the world’s biggest container-shipping company, jumped 4.8 per cent after raising its full-year profit forecast. Imperial Tobacco gained 1.6 per cent after reporting a smaller sales decline than analysts had been expecting.
