Market Leaders: Hauliers invest to secure future

Transport & Logisitics: Challenges remain, but transport firms are looking forward with optimism, writes Linda Daly.

It was a year of investment and expansion for a number of Irish transport and logistics firms in 2012, as they faced the challenges of growing fuel costs and changing regulations head on.

Not all companies within the sector survived the year. One of its largest privately-owned firms, Target Express, ceased trading in August with the loss of 390 jobs in Ireland, North and south, and Britain.
