Margins under pressure at Irish frozen fish companies

Margins at Ireland’s frozen fish processors are coming under increasing pressure as retail prices for frozen fish lag behind the rising costs of wholesale fish, according to a trade report by fisheries body Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM).

Margins at Ireland’s frozen fish processors are coming under increasing pressure as retail prices for frozen fish lag behind the rising costs of wholesale fish, according to a trade report by fisheries body Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM).

The report found that frozen fish processors here are now paying 15 per cent more for fish than they were a year ago. During the same period, the retail price of frozen fish has remained almost static.
