A significant number of unemployed people have returned to education since the onset of the recession, meaning that Ireland could avoid long term unemployment, according to the Central Bank.

A significant number of unemployed people have returned to education since the onset of the recession, meaning that Ireland could avoid long term unemployment, according to the Central Bank.

The latest analysis of the labour market from the Central Bank’s economic letter series said that the slowdown in the Irish economy had led to a steep rise in unemployment and a ‘‘sharp fall in the labour participation rate’’.
