Manufacturing output falls for first time in a year

Irish manufacturing output was down for the first time in a year, according to the NCB Manufacturing PMI Index.

March saw the fastest fall in new export business since August 2009.

Irish manufacturing output was down for the first time in a year, according to the NCB Manufacturing PMI Index.

It fell to 48.6 in March from 51.5 in February, marking the first deterioration in business conditions in the sector since February 2012. It also marked the fastest fall in new export business since August 2009 and saw new orders decreasing for the second time in the past three months.
