Manufacturing activity continued to expand in June for the 13th month in a row as new orders hit their highest level in more than three years, new figures have shown.

Manufacturing activity continued to expand in June for the 13th month in a row as new orders hit their highest level in more than three years, new figures have shown.

The Investec Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index, which measures overall health in manufacturing, rose to 55.3 in June, up from 55 in May. The 50 line divides growth in manufacturing from contraction.

A sub-index for new orders rose to 58.7, up from 55.6, its highest level since early 2011.
