Opting for an auto-enrolment system for private pensions is a "complicated compromise" and will be difficult to administer, according to a former chief executive of Hibernian group.

Adrian Daly, founder and managing director of Source Pensions, said that a mandatory system for retirement saving would be preferable to auto-enrolment from the point of view of implementation.
