More than three quarters of hospital consultants believe the Health Service Executive (HSE) should close or downgrade some emergency departments across the country, a Sunday Business Post survey has found.

While closing emergency departments often elicits a public outcry, the nationwide survey revealed a clear medical consensus on the controversial issue.
