Macalla, a Dublin payments technology firm that has won deals around the world, is close to being acquired by an American company, writes Gavin Daly.

It is understood that the buyer is Roamware, which specialises in mobile roaming technology and has offices in California and India. A deal could be announced as early as this week. The terms of the deal are not known, but Macalla has been growing and trading profitably.
