The cost of the M50 upgrade has ballooned to €807 million from an initial cost of €316million, according to the latest figures for the project.

The upgrade will add a third lane to the 32-kilometre M50 circling Dublin and improvements to ten interchanges. The project was initially costed at €316 million in October 2003.
