Lynch threatened to quit over health cuts

Kathleen Lynch, the junior health minister, threatened to resign over attempts to cut the mental health budget proposed by the senior Minister for Health James Reilly.

Kathleen Lynch, the junior health minister, threatened to resign over attempts to cut the mental health budget proposed by the senior Minister for Health James Reilly. Lynch expressed fury at plans to cut her budgets during angry exchanges at a cabinet sub-committee meeting last Monday week. Lynch told Reilly, Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore that she "would not stand'' for the cuts proposed by Reilly.
