The backers of a luxury hotel development at Dunboy Castle in west Cork plan to open this summer, despite the worsening economic environment.

Michael Humphreys of Cap Partners, which is behind the development outside Castletownbere, said the group had ‘‘tentative plans’’ to open in the middle of the year.

‘‘We are very conscious that 2008 was not a good year and that 2009 is also set to be a difficult year...
