Los Angeles police evicted protesters camped in hundreds of tents around City Hall, ending almost two months of a round-the-clock occupation.

More than 200 people were arrested, while a similar raid in Philadelphia led to 50 arrests, Associated Press reported.

The demonstrators in the second- and fifth-most-populous American cities are an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement that began protesting unemployment, income inequality and the financial industry in New York on September 17th.
