Loose Change: New lending continues to fall

New lending in the first three months of this year is down almost 40 per cent on the same period last year, according to the latest data.

New lending in the first three months of this year is down almost 40 per cent on the same period last year, according to the latest data.

The Irish Banking Federation (IBF) and PricewaterhouseCoopers mortgage market profile reports that almost 7,000 new mortgages worth €1.22 billion were issued during the first quarter of 2010. This is down some 30 per cent on the previous quarter, and down 36.8 per cent year on year.
