Loose Change: Mortgage approvals for December up by 30% year on year

Mortgage approvals were up by almost 30 per cent in December, compared with the same month one year earlier.

According to data from the Irish Banking Federation, lenders approved 1,446 mortgages worth €234 million last December. This represented a value increase of 29.3 per cent over the same month in 2011.
